All the mobiles are designed by me (Janet Klein), and assembled by myself
(with a little help sometimes from my friends).
The beads I
choose for the mobiles are high grade semi-precious gemstones, handmade
beads from friends of mine who are glass bead artists (yes, a whole
other world),potters, and handcrafted beads from many cultures. All the metal beads are 12K gold-fill, sterling silver, or copper (with a brass disk now and then).
All mobiles are strung on braided steel cable ("tiger tail" also known as "jeweler's wire").
I use feathers (fly-tying) to add visual interest and motion to the mobiles.

The Mobil
Before manufacturing jewelry parts, figurines and optics, Swarovski (Strass-Swarovski)
made
chandeliers for 100 years and still produces the best crystal
chandelier pieces in the
world. After WWII, blast furnaces were developed hot enough to enable
crystal manufacturers to add more lead to the liquid glass, making the
crystal glass clearer. So, if you hold an old crystal chandelier piece
next to a modern one, you will see the differences in clarity and brilliance. You will also see a difference between Strass-Swarovski precise faceting and any other crystal brand including those from Egypt, China and the far East.
Strass-Swarovski crystal is the clearest and most refractive crystal in the world!
